The BareLens Community Gallery website officially opened on May 1st, 2003.

BareLens is a community gallery dedicated to displaying the works of both amateur and professional photographers who seek to explore the fine art of nude figure photography.  Photographers and models can upload images into our gallery, or into their own private albums, to share with as wide an audience as is desired.  Those who browse through the gallery can rate each image, or leave a comment directly to the artist about the artwork.  BareLens is not a porn site.  The primary focus of the artwork within the BareLens Gallery is not of eroticism.  Instead, the BareLens Gallery is a place to share and appreciate the natural beauty of the human form.  While sensuality will invariably be a common theme of nude photography, it is far from being the only theme.  Many ideas can be conveyed through an image using the nude human form that are far deeper than our simple base instincts.  We aim for subtlety more often than blatancy.  Peruse through the Gallery at BareLens and you'll quickly see what I mean.

BareLens membership is a great way to interact with other aspiring photographers, to learn tips and tricks in the art of nude photography.  You can store and manage all of your digital images here once you sign up.  You'll be able to receive comments, constructive criticism and critiques from your peers as people rate your images for quality or appeal, or leave you advice for your future photographic adventures.  There is a vastly varied level of skill being represented by the members of the community, each with their own distinctly individual style.  Each new participating artist helps add to the eclectic depth of the community galleries.

You MUST be the photographer or the model of the photograph being submitted, and have the permission of the photographer or model to allow you to post to the BareLens Community Gallery, prior to submitting any image for approval.  You must either be the copyright holder or have the permission of the copyright holder for any image you submit to the BareLens gallery.  The webmaster and moderators of the site assume that any image submitted is submitted with full legal rights by the member who uploads the image.  Sole responsibility for verification lays on the part of the submitting member.  The site administrators or moderators may at any time ask questions about your images to verify the authenticity or legality of your photos, and proof of such may be required so please be prepared answer questions or to provide such proof of image ownership as requested.  Any image deemed to have been submitted by any member who is not a copyright holder of the image, or does not have the explicit written permission of the copyright holder of the image, will immediately have their membership terminated and become banned from the site.  Where possible, the copyright holder of the illegally submitted image will be notified.

At BareLens you can share your favourite nude art photography with other community members, your friends, and the rest of the world.  You can organize your photos into albums that can be public or private with password protection.  Every visitor who views your images can leave a comment about the photo, or rate it on a scale from 1 to 10.  Not only do the participating artists receive direct feedback from the community about their artwork, but you can also see how many times each individual image has been viewed.  It is a great way to get a better understanding of how your artwork is received by your audiences.

Plus, we also have a fully interactive discussion forum for members to talk about anything and everything related to the profession and hobby of photography.  Share your knowledge, and learn from the other members.  Tell us what is on your mind and read about what is on our mind.  The forum can be a great resource for everyone.  If you need some quick answers to a question, or want to learn about the latest tricks, or maybe you need to find out what new camera you should buy, then stop into the discussion forums and talk to the other members of the community.  You are certain to find your answers fast.  Learn something new, and share your knowledge with others in the BareLens discussion forums!

At this time, BareLens is still in a beta testing phase.  There are not currently any restrictions or limitations on how many photos or images can be uploaded into the gallery for each member.  Each member can upload an unlimited amount of photos at this time.  There are current limitations on each individual image being uploaded.  Image file size cannot be larger than 250Kb.  Image resolution cannot be larger than 1500x1500.  Images will not be able to be submitted for approval which are larger than these two noted size restrictions.  For content restrictions, please read through the Guidelines linked at the top of each page.  Please note that this is all subject to change without notice.  Be sure to read through the News & Updates section of the discussion forums area of the Home page of this site for periodic updates or changes to policies or restrictions

The BareLens Community Gallery website is administered and maintained by Mister-E, with moderation and technical assistance from various individuals as required.  All artwork remains the sole property of the copyright holders.  BareLens claims no ownership of any images posted in the Community Gallery.  BareLens merely acts as a service to provide the necessary platform for photographers and artists to sell or display their artwork over the internet.

The BareLens website is a Canadian owned and operated community website.  Our head offices are located on the beautiful Pacific coast of Canada, in south western British Columbia.  Our members are invited from all over the world.  You are welcome to make yourselves at home no matter where you are from.  Enjoy the photographs and enjoy the community, and we'll be seeing you around ... barely.
